Dayton, OH – The La Salle women's basketball team fell 79-61 at Dayton on Saturday afternoon.
The Explorers used an 8-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 62-55, but it wasn't enough, as the Flyers pulled away late for the victory.
With the loss, La Salle falls to 7-11 on the season and 1-4 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Flyers improve to 4-1 in league action and 10-6 overall.
How It Happened:
- Both teams shot over 40% from the field in the first half, as the Flyers jumped out to a 23-15 lead.
- Junior Anna Przyszlak led the Explorers with five points in the first period.
- A pair of free throws by redshirt sophomore Ashleigh Connor cut the deficit to four at 27-23 with 5:08 to play in the half, but the Flyers closed out the first half on a 17-4 run to take a 44-21 lead at the half.
- The Explorers fought back, outscoring the Flyers 16-11 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 12 at 55-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Explorers held the Flyers to just 3-13 (23.1%) from the field in the third quarter.
- A traditional three-point play by freshman Joan Quinn and a three-pointer by junior Ayisse Magassa got the Explorers within striking distance at 62-55, but the Flyers' late run made the difference.
Inside The Numbers:
- The Explorers converted on 28-65 (43.1%) of shots throughout the contest.
- La Salle scored 36 of its 61 points in the paint while converting on 11-12 attempts from the free throw line.
- Connor led the Explorers with 18 points, with Magassa recording a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Przyszlak was the third Explorer in double figures, finishing with 15 points on 7-10 shooting.
