PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team led 16-6 after the first quarter, but it wasn't enough, as the Explorers fell 57-40 to George Mason on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Joan Quinn led the Explorers with 15 points, while graduate student
Mackenzie Daleba added a team-high nine rebounds.
How It Happened:
- The Explorers dominated the first quarter, as a layup by Quinn gave La Salle an 11-2 lead less than seven minutes into the game.
- Redshirt sophomore Ashleigh Connor scored seven points in the first quarter to lead all scorers, as she went 3-3 from the field in the first 10 minutes of the game.
- La Salle held George Mason to 2-13 (15.4%) from the field in the first quarter while connecting on 7-11 (63.6%) of attempts to build a 16-6 lead.
- The Patriots answered with a strong second quarter and tied the game at 24-24 going into halftime.
- George Mason pulled away in the third period, outscoring La Salle 21-8 in the third to take the lead for good.
- Quinn scored six of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, but the Patriots hung on for the victory.
