NEW YORK – The La Salle track and field teams spent their eventful weekend at The Armory, competing in the Dr. Sander Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Both teams had a successful trip, with many Explorers achieving personal bests, and two new program records were established over the weekend.
HOW THEY FINISHED (DAY 1):
- Maya Primas finished the 400 in just under a minute, going 59.67 to get 32nd place in the 400-meter seeded race.
- Lexy Rivard's time of 2:10.98 in the 800-meter run was good enough for 13th place.
- In the 3000-meter race, Gwenno Goode set a La Salle indoor record, finishing the race in 9:18.98 to get second place. Her time shattered her old personal best, besting it by over 26 seconds.
- Other Explorers also easily bested their old personal bests in the same event. Helene Usher's time of 9:41.58 was an 18-second PR, and Neve Moulai had a time 10 seconds faster than her previous best.
- Usher and Moulai finished strong enough to 11th and 15th place in the race.
- On the men's side, Matt Hill and MacCallum finished fifth and sixth in the same event with times of 8:09.96 and 8:10.66, respectively. Both were PRs as well (Hill by 14 seconds, Rowe by two seconds).
- David Butts and Bram van Druten were not far behind, getting eighth and ninth place. Butts' time of 8:12.29 was a four-second best.
HOW THEY FINISHED (DAY 2):
- In the team's first event on Saturday, Gillian Lovett got sixth in the open mile with a time of 5:03.13.
- On the men's side of that event, Charlie Hazlett got 27th place, completing the race in 4:19.22.
- Soleil Morrison's time of 25.3 was a indoor best for him, and also set a new program record for women's indoor track and field. Overall, she finished 10th in the race.
- Chanel Muir and James Ptack placed ninth and 10th in the mile invitational, with times of 4:03.36 and 4:05.57, respectively.
- Callum Murray was not too far behind, placing 14th and finishing in 4:07.71.
- Finn Birnie concluded the eventful weekend for the Blue and Gold, with a sixth-place finish in the 5k. His time was 14:24.77
UP NEXT
- The Explorers remain in the Big Apple next weekend, competing in the Scarlet Knight Open on Friday. The meet will start at 9:30 a.m.
