Joan Quinn scored a career-high 23 points, the most by an Explorer this season, but the La Salle women's basketball team suffered a 76-52 loss at Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened:
- The Hawks jumped out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter.
- The Explorers fought back and outscored Saint Joseph's 19-15 in the second quarter to get within striking distance at the half.
- La Salle shot 8-14 (57.1%) from the field during the second quarter to make it a two-possession game at 31-17 at the midway mark, as Quinn capped a 13-2 La Salle run with two seconds to play in the second quarter.
- The Hawks took over in the third quarter, outscoring La Salle 26-9 to take the lead for good.
- Both teams traded baskets in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough, as the Hawks prevailed for the victory.
Inside The Numbers:
- Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Quinn was also the Explorers' leading rebounder with six rebounds and finished the game shooting 8-17 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line.
- The Explorers shot 20-49 (40.8%) from the field throughout the contest.
- St. Joe's held a 36-24 advantage on the glass, with Mackenzie Smith leading four Hawks in double figures with 22 points.
