PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's basketball team fell on Wednesday night to the visiting Fordham Rams, 88-72 at John Glaser Arena. The Rams shot 52% overall, including making 12 of 26 three-pointers.
Deuce Jones had one of the best individual performances of any Explorer this season, scoring a career-high 24 points and tying career-highs in steals (4) and field goals made (8). Jahlil White nearly recorded a double-double, scoring 14 and grabbing 9 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:

An early 7-0 run put La Salle in a hole early, 11-4.

La Salle flipped the script, with a thunderous alley oop from Daeshon Shepherd and three free throws from Corey McKeithan to cut into the lead, 17-13.

The Rams responded with 14 of the next 16 points to make the score 31-15.

A pair of Jones buckets and a three-point play by Shepherd trimmed the deficit to nine with 3:44 to play.

Both teams exchanged shots in the final three and a half minutes, with the Explorers heading into halftime down 14.
Second Half:

After Fordham got the first point of the half, the Explorers went on a 10-2 run to make it a seven-point game. White and Jones scored all 10 of La Salle's points during the run.

Over the next few minutes, both teams traded buckets to keep the game within reach for the Blue and Gold. McKeithan converted two three point plays to highlight the Explorers efforts.

A three-point play by White stopped a 7-0 Rams run with 7:37 remaining. The Explorers trailed 66-54 at the under-8 media timeout.

Another McKeithan three trimmed the advantage to 10 points with 5:53 remaining. The Rams came right back with a deep ball of their own.

A flurry of Rams dunks late sealed the win for the visitors, bringing the final score to 88-72.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Jones' 24 points was his fourth game this season with 20 points or more.

White's nine rebounds were the most he's grabbed in a game since December 31, when he had nine rebounds against Dayton.

Mac Etienne had a season high in blocks with two and tied a season-high in steals with a pair.
