Fairfax, VA — La Salle men's soccer earned a thrilling 2–1 road victory over George Mason on Saturday night at George Mason Stadium, scoring the winner in the final minute. With the win, the Explorers improved to 3-4-7 overall (1-2-3 A-10), while the Patriots dropped to 6-5-1 (3-2-1 A-10).
La Salle jumped ahead in the 31st minute when junior midfielder Zach Forehand buried his third goal of the season to give the Explorers a 1–0 lead. George Mason answered just before halftime as Will Carson scored off a setup from Martim Sereno in the 45th minute to send the match level at the break.
After a back-and-forth second half, La Salle found the winner in the last 30 seconds when sophomore forward Alex Lawrence converted from close range, finishing a pass from Forehand to secure all three points.
Senior goalkeeper Tino Kneis made four saves in the victory. The Blue and Gold were level on shots on goal with the Patriots with five each, while corner kicks were 7-6 in the hosts' favor.
La Salle plays its final road regular season game next Saturday in New York, playing St. Bonaventure. The match is set for 6:00 pm and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
