Philadelphia, PA — La Salle women's soccer fought to a scoreless draw against VCU on Thursday evening at McCarthy Stadium. With the result, the Explorers moved to 7-6-3 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play, while the Rams improve to 6-0-3 (4-4-1 in the conference).
Both defenses stood tall in a physical matchup that saw few clear chances. Senior goalkeeper Mackenna Yaracs anchored the Explorers' back line, recording six saves to earn her clean sheet of the season.
The Explorers generated eight total shots and one on goal, with junior defender Rylee Henson forcing a save late in the first half. Senior forward Justyce Hollenbach and freshman midfielder Anna Corsanico each added a pair of attempts for La Salle.
VCU outshot La Salle 15–8 but was unable to capitalize, as Yaracs and the Explorer defense kept the Rams off the scoreboard through 90 minutes. Corner kicks were 5-2 in the Rams' favor.
La Salle closes out its regular season this Sunday with a road match against Duquense, with kickoff set for 1:00 pm.
