Women's Soccer Concludes Regular Season At Duquesne

Pittsburgh, PA — La Salle women's soccer closed out their regular season on Sunday afternoon, falling 4–2 to Duquesne at Rooney Field. With the result, the Explorers finish the year 7–7–3 overall and 4–4–2 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Dukes improved to 12–5–1 and 7–3 in the conference.

Duquesne struck early, finding the back of the net in the opening minute through Brianna Moore. The hosts doubled their lead in the 27th minute on a penalty kick by Mackenzie Muir and added a third two minutes later from Maya Matesa. La Salle responded just before halftime when freshman forward Kayden Williams converted off a feed from junior defender Jaci Gismondi to cut the deficit to 3–1 heading into the break.

The Dukes restored their three-goal advantage early in the second half as Matesa tallied her second of the day in the 50th minute. The Explorers continued to battle, with senior forward Justyce Hollenbach scoring in the 61st minute off another Williams setup to make it 4–2, but Duquesne held firm defensively the rest of the way.

La Salle outshot Duquesne 17–12 and both teams recorded four corner kicks.

The Explorers have qualified for the Atlantic 10 tournament, and await their opponent whom they will play next weekend.
