Women's Soccer Fights Back In Second Half To Draw 3-3

Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle women's soccer team battled to a 3-3 draw against Loyola Chicago on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium. The result moves the Explorers to 5-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play, while the Ramblers now sit at 7-3-3, and 2-2-1 in the A-10.

Loyola Chicago jumped out to an early lead, striking in the 6th minute when Mia Lanni converted off a feed from Zoe Hevey to make it 1-0. The Ramblers doubled their advantage in the 21st minute on a finish from Maggie Schmidt, putting La Salle in a 2-0 hole midway through the first half.

The Explorers responded before halftime, as freshman forward Kayden Williams buried a chance in the 40th minute following a setup from junior defender to pull La Salle within one heading into the break.

Momentum carried into the second half, with sophomore forward Alexis Garcia finding the equalizer in the 48th minute. Just over 14 minutes later, senior forward Justyce Hollenbach scored her third goal of the season to give La Salle a 3-2 edge.

Loyola pressed late and found the tying goal in the 88th minute when Lanni struck again, this time assisted by Catherine Cline off a corner kick, to bring the match level at 3-3.

Senior goalie Mackenna Yaracs recorded seven saves in goal for La Salle, while Loyola's keeper Allison Deardorff finished with three.

The Explorers return to action Saturday at 1:00 pm as they continue Atlantic 10 play, competing against George Washington.
