Men's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day, Concludes Regular Season With Draw

Philadelphia, PA — The La Salle men's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 2–2 draw against George Washington on Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium. The result moved the Explorers to 4–4–8 overall and 2–2–4 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Colonials finished their campaign at 2–11–4 (0–7–1 A-10).

George Washington struck first in the 32nd minute when Louis Crofts finished a pass from Tommaso Lami. La Salle responded just over two minutes later, as junior midfielder Zachary Forehand buried an equalizer in the 35th minute to send the sides level into halftime.

The Colonials regained the lead midway through the second half on a goal from Joel Russ in the 76th minute, but the Explorers continued to press and found the equalizer when senior defender Americo Pereira converted in the 82nd minute off a corner kick assist from grad student midfielder Drew Blackwell.

La Salle outshot George Washington 19–12, including an 8–7 advantage in shots on goal. Senior goalie Tino Kneis made five saves in the draw, while George Washington's Diego Peña stopped six shots.

The contest featured a number of cards late, with each team receiving red cards in the second half. George Washington finished the match with nine men, while the Explorers got a red card of their own in thr 87th minute.

La Salle awaits their results of the final regular season games across the conference to determine if they will play in the Atlantic 10 tournament, which is scheduled to start next weekend.
