Philadelphia, PA - La Salle powered past West Chester 83-50 on Tuesday night at John E. Glaser Arena, using a dominant defensive performance and overwhelming rebounding to take control early and never let go. The Explorers forced 21 turnovers and turned them into 30 points while holding the Rams to just two points in the second quarter, building a 20-point halftime lead that West Chester never threatened.
Redshirt junior Ashleigh Connor led the effort with 18 points and 12 rebounds, and junior Aryss Macktoon added 17 points and 14 rebounds as La Salle owned the paint and finished with 52 total boards, including 23 on the offensive end. Redshirt freshman Kiara Williams delivered 16 points, and the Explorers piled up 52 points in the paint thanks to their pressure, transition scoring, and second-chance opportunities. Williams finished with three and-one finishes in the contest.Â
La Salle opened with a steady first quarter before completely breaking the game open in the second, outscoring the Rams 18-2 and locking in defensively to force nine turnovers in the period alone. West Chester briefly found some rhythm in the third but couldn't close the gap, and La Salle responded with another strong finish, posting 21 points in the fourth to close out the win.
The victory moves the Explorers to 4-1 on the season for the first time since 2022-23. Next up, they'll take on American at home on Saturday as the team celebrates Greek Day. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
