Track and Field Leaves Fastrack Invite with Multiple Podium Finishes

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The La Salle men's and women's track and field concluded its third and final indoor meet in the state of New York this season, competing in the Fastrack National Invite.

Overall, it was a very successful showing for the Explorers, with many top-10 and podium finishes achieved by those repping the Blue and Gold.

HOW THEY FINISHED:
  • In the women's 3k event, Gillian Lovett got a top-10 finish, landing 10th with a time of 10:09.62.
  • Cara Coppolino finished five places later in the same event, completing it in 10:15.6.
  • Soleil Morrison ran in the 400-meter sprint, placing sixth with a time of 57.19.
  • Maya Primas was not too far behind, with her 59.46 performance getting her 15th place.
  • Adaugo Ilonze won the 60-meter open hurdles, as her result of 9.38 got her the top spot.
  • Marionna Logan jumped 5.16 meters in the long-jump open, which landed her second place.
  • Nevaeh Davis placed seventh overall in the 60-meter dash finals, as she finished the sprint in 7.81 seconds.
  • Davis followed that up with a third place finish in the 200-meter sprint, flashing through the event in 25.34.
  • The final track event for the women was the 4x400-meter relay. La Salle's team of Viola Clay, Linise Green, Maya Primas, and Morrison got fourth with a time of 3:58.97
  • Over on the men's team, Gavin Andrews got a 16th place finish in the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 7.26 seconds.
  • Andrews followed that up with a time of 22.98 in the 200-meter sprint.
  • In the 800-meter run, Joseph Branderbit got 28th place with a time of 1:59.39.
  • One second later, Gavin Zanck finished, getting 42nd place.
  • Evan Dias completed the 400-meter event in 51.58 to lead the way for the Explorers pack.
UP NEXT
  • The Explorers teams will travel Boston next weekend for the second time this season, competing in the BU Valentine Invitational. The two-day starts on Friday at 9 a.m., and the meet will be streamed on FloSports.
