Lacrosse Overcome By Minutewomen In A-10 Affair

Amherst, MA – The La Salle women's lacrosse team dropped a matchup against the University of Massachusetts Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The hosts came out with plenty of shots on target, building up a five-goal lead. Senior Katie Johnson got the Explorers on the board.
  • Redshirt junior Alana Lathan, who assisted in the first goal, made it 6-2 7:22 into the game.
  • Sam Klein got the team's third with a little under five minutes left in the quarter.
  • UMass built its lead in the next frame, while the Explorers netted three more before the half. Johnson got her second goal, while junior Molly Maloney and sophomore Mia Riccitelli added their names to the scoresheet.
  • In the third, UMass scored all but one of the six goals in the quarter. Johnson tallied the one for the Explorers.
  • La Salle made a bit of a push in the final quarter, outscoring the Minutewomen 4-2 in the frame. Lathan tallied another goal, while Johnson scored two more as well. Sophomore Kayla Norris scored her first goal of the game about a minute into the frame.
  • After Johnson's second goal of the quarter, the hosts saw the game out, adding one more with seconds left to reach the final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Johnson scored five goals in the game, her first game this season with that many goals in a goal, and the first game she has done in it since the 2024 season opener.
  • Senior Ainsley Plume led the team with six draw controls.
  • La Salle scored 11 goals from just 15 shots on goal, a conversion rate of 73.3%.
UP NEXT
  • The team celebrates Senior Day for its next game, as it will host VCU in its next match. The game is set for Saturday at noon, and it will be streamed on ESPN+.
