PHILADELPHIA - Just a week after scoring four wins at the Schuylkill Invitational, the Explorers outdid themselves at their home river with five victories at the Kerr Cup on Saturday.
In the morning, the boats competed in preliminary races in order to qualify for the finals that took place in the afternoon. Each of the 1V8, the 2V8, and the 3V8 placed first in their preliminary races, with the varsity boat defeating second-place Rutgers by over 15 seconds.
In the afternoon, the 1V8 boat beat their previous time by 4 seconds, once again defeating second-place George Washington by over 15 seconds. The 2V8 boat also scored their second victory of the day, placing first as part of a 6-way that featured Big 5 foes, Drexel and Saint Joseph's.
Competing on the Schuylkill River for the third straight weekend next week, the Explorers will compete in the Bergen Cup next Saturday on April 26, their last chance to prove themselves before Dad Vails.
