Pennsauken, NJ - On Friday and Saturday, the La Salle University men's rowing team competed in the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the country.
On Friday, boats raced in semi-finals heats to determine who would participate in the Grand Finals in each event on Saturday. The Explorers entered boats in the Varsity Eight (V8), Second Varsity Eight (2V8), and Third Varsity Eight (3V8) races as usual, but also raced in the Single (1x) and Pair (2-) races for the first time this spring.
All five boats advanced to their respective Grand Final, with the V8 crew delivering a standout performance, winning their semifinal by over five seconds.
On Saturday, each of the Explorers' V8 boats podiumed with the V8 and 3V8 taking second place and the 2V8 taking bronze. With the V8's top-two finish, La Salle has officially qualified for the 2025 IRA Regatta at the end of May.
The La Salle V8 boat missed out on the coveted Richard O'Brien - James Hanna Trophy by less than four tenths of a second, falling to crosstown rival Temple.
The Explorers will cap off their impressive season at the IRA Regatta, beginning May 29.
