PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Lehigh on Wednesday evening at McCarthy Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Explorers broke through in the 57th minute when senior forward Justyce Hollenbach buried her first goal of the season to give La Salle a 1-0 advantage.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Lehigh drew level in the 66th minute on a penalty kick converted by Faith Dobosiewicz. The Mountain Hawks' senior struck again in the 83rd minute, slotting home her second goal of the match to put the visitors ahead for good.
La Salle pressed for an equalizer with a flurry of five straight corner kicks in the final six minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
The Explorers outshot Lehigh 15-6, led by Hollenbach's six attempts, but were turned away by the Mountain Hawks' goalkeeping tandem of Maggie Ousouljoglou and R'Reeyah Mabry-Francis, who combined for five saves.
La Salle will look to bounce back on Sunday as the team opens the road portion of the slate against Stony Brook.
