PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team powered past Big 5 rival Drexel, earning a 3-0 victory on Thursday evening at Vidas Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Explorers broke through less than a minute into the second stanza when freshman Halah Lebsack netted her first career goal off assists from Anna Corsanico and Elizabeth Estrada. Just three minutes later, Ella Cadigan doubled the advantage with her first tally of the season to make it 2-0.
La Salle put the game out of reach in the 62nd minute as graduate captain Jillian Drumm scored her second goal of the year, again with Corsanico providing the setup. The Explorer defense and goalkeeper Mackenna Yaracs held firm the rest of the way, limiting Drexel to just one shot on target to secure the clean sheet.
The Explorers outshot the Dragons 13-10 and recorded seven shots on goal. Drexel's Sammy Widnick finished with four saves, all coming in the first half, while Yaracs went untested in net for La Salle.
La Salle (2-3-1) continues its non-conference slate on the road this weekend with a trip to Howard.
