Women's Soccer Defeats Howard With Late PK Winner

Washington, DC – The La Salle women's soccer team picked up a gritty 2-1 road win over Howard on Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium. With the win, the Explorers complete non-conference play with a 3-3-1 record.

The Explorers struck first in the 26th minute when freshman Anna Corsanico finished off a feed from senior Justyce Hollenbach to give La Salle the early advantage. The Bison battled back in the second half, leveling the match in the 75th minute on a goal from Gabriela Garcia-Terrell.

With the score knotted late, senior Elizabeth Estrada delivered the game-winner in the 88th minute, calmly slotting home a penalty kick for her second goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Mackenna Yaracs anchored the Explorer defense with three saves, while Trinity Knox made six stops for Howard. La Salle finished with a 15–7 edge in shots and an 8–4 margin in shots on goal.

La Salle returns to McCarthy Stadium Saturday as they begin conference play, facing Dayton at 1 p.m.
