Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle women's soccer team dropped their Atlantic 10 opener on Saturday afternoon, falling 2–0 to Dayton at McCarthy Stadium. With the result, the Explorers moved to 3-4-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Flyers improved to 4-3-2 and 1-0 in the conference.
Dayton struck first in the 34th minute when Ella Raimondi converted off a feed from Kyra Karfonta to put the visitors in front. The Flyers doubled their advantage late in the second half, as Caroline Schork finished in the 82nd minute on an assist from Karli Ferguson.
Senior goalie Mackenna Yaracs made four saves for the Explorers, while Dayton's Batoul Reda turned away two shots to preserve the shutout. The Flyers held a 15–6 edge in shots and a 6–2 margin in shots on goal.
La Salle will look to bounce back on Thursday, traveling to face Rhode Island in their first A-10 road test at 7 p.m.
