PHILADELPHIA, Pa – The La Salle men's soccer team rallied from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Drexel on Saturday evening at McCarthy Stadium. With the result, the Explorers moved to 1-1-4 on the season, while the Dragons now sit at 2-2-2.
Drexel opened the scoring just before halftime when Brian Salvino found the net in the 42nd minute. The Dragons doubled their advantage midway through the second half, as Tiago Lima-Bittencourt converted in the 66th minute to make it 2-0.
La Salle responded quickly, cutting the deficit in the 68th minute through freshman Sofus Ulrich's first goal of the year. The comeback was completed in the 83rd minute when freshman Julius de Vries struck via an assist from junior Kyrese Lynch-Bailey to bring the Explorers level at 2-2.
The Explorers outshot the Dragons 19-17, forcing Drexel goalkeeper Owen Moore into eight saves, while Tino Kneis made six stops in net for La Salle. Both sides recorded 10 or more fouls and each team was shown four yellow cards in a physical contest.
La Salle will return to action Tuesday, playing Monmouth at McCarthy Stadium at 7 p.m.
