Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle University men's soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Saint Joseph's on Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium. With the result, the Explorers moved to 1-2-5, while the Hawks sit at 2-3-2.
After a scoreless first half, Saint Joseph's grabbed the lead in the 53rd minute when Glen Lala finished off a feed from Sebastian Perez-Gasiba. The Hawks doubled their advantage in the 71st minute as Tommaso Rossetto tucked away a chance set up by Mason Csapo and Diego Avelar.
The Explorers responded with resilience, pulling one back in the 77th minute when sophomore Pedro Amadou calmly converted from the penalty spot. Just six minutes later, sophomore Itzak Sandoval provided the equalizer, finding the back of the net to level the match at 2-2.
Saint Joseph's outshot La Salle 15-9, but the Explorers held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Tino Kneis turned aside four shots in the draw.
La Salle will return to action on Saturday for a conference matchup at Saint Louis. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and the contest will stream on ESPN+.
