La Salle Rugby Wins Both "Sevens" Matches Over Temple For First Wins In Program History

Philadelphia, Pa -- The La Salle Women's Rugby team won both games of a 7's match with Temple (41-5, 50-0) to capture the first two victories in program history Sunday morning at Hank DeVincent Field.

The Explorers saw six players score multiple tries throughout both matches, with freshmen Quinn Franck and Maeve Delaney scoring three tries each to lead the balanced scoring effort for La Salle. Fellow classmates Claire Meislahn, Isabella Titus, and Hadley Edwards each scored two tries apiece.

Taylor MajorJocelyn Widrig, Kendra Close, and Mallory Edwards added tries to round out the scoring for La Salle, with Major adding four conversions in the first match.

La Salle raced out to a 41-0 lead in the first match before Temple put in a try as time expired. The Explorers then scored 50 unanswered on 10 tries in the second match.

"I'm very impressed with the girls' ability to adapt," said head coach Kelsie McDowell. "They came in prepared for a 15s game, and adapted on the fly to smash two 7's games."

La Salle is back in action next weekend, when the Explorers travel to Connecticut to take on Quinnipiac on Saturday.
