NEW YORK, NY – The La Salle women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Columbia on Sunday afternoon at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, its first draw of the season. With the result, the team's overall record is 1-3-1.
The Explorers struck first in the 21st minute when junior forward Kameron Rase converted off a corner kick from Elizabeth Estrada, giving La Salle a 1-0 advantage. Columbia responded after halftime, as Krystal Medina finished from close range in the 64th minute on an assist from Sammie Moncion to even the score at 1-1.
La Salle produced six shots in the contest, with Rase and senior forward Justyce Hollenbach each getting a shot on goal. Columbia generated 10 attempts, forcing goalkeeper Mackenna Yaracs into three saves to preserve the result.
The match also featured a pair of late yellow cards, one to each side, in the final minutes of play.
La Salle continues its road-swing next week, returning to Philadelphia for a non-conference matchup before Atlantic 10 play begins.
