Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle women's basketball team earned a 66-52 victory over George Washington on Saturday afternoon at John E. Glaser Arena, improving to 10-4 overall and 3-0 in Atlantic 10 play for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
The Explorers set the tone early, using defensive pressure to take a 21-14 lead after one and building a double-digit advantage by halftime. The Revolutionaries made a push after the break, but La Salle responded with timely stops and balanced scoring to stretch the lead back to 14 by the end of the third. The Explorers stayed composed in the fourth knocking down seven free throws in eight attempts to close out the game.
Junior Aryss Macktoon led La Salle with 18 points and was a constant presence in transition with game-high totals in steals (6) and rebounds (8). Redshirt junior Ashleigh Connor added 17 points and five rebounds, while Ivona Miljanic provided a spark off the bench with eight quick points in a three-minute stretch in the third quarter. The Explorers forced 20 turnovers and grabbed a season-high 19 offensive rebounds in the victory.
La Salle will look to continue their historic run through Atlantic 10 play as the team travels to Fairfax next Wednesday for their lone matchup with George Mason this season. The game begins at 7:00 PM and will be streamed on ESPN+.
