Men's Basketball Hosts Rhode Island on Saturday Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team (7-19, 3-10 A-10) hosts Rhode Island (15-11, 6-7 A-10) on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at John E. Glaser Arena presented by IBEW Local 98.

Hall Of Athletes

Former baseball standout Pat Christensen, '13, and women's basketball great Amy Griffin, '18, will be inducted into the La Salle Hall of Athletes Class of 2026 at halftime.

What's Up, Dock?

During A-10 play, redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery is averaging 12.9 points, a team-high 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and a team-high 1.5 steals per game while shooting a team-best 50.9% from the field. 

Dockery is averaging 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists over his last three games.

Floor General

In league play, sophomore guard Jaden Johnson is second in the A-10 with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.4. He also ranks sixth with 4.4 assists per game in A-10  play. Against Duquesne, Johnson tallied 11 points, four rebounds, and five assists in 34 minutes. In his last four games, he is averaging 10.3 points and six assists.

The Rookie

Freshman guard Ashton Walker leads all A-10 freshmen in assists (83), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9), and assists per game (3.2). Walker is averaging 11.5 points over his last two games.

Brewer Jr. Makes His Return

After missing the last three games to injury, redshirt junior forward Jerome Brewer Jr. netted five points and recorded four rebounds in 28 minutes against Duquesne. Brewer Jr. is averaging a team-high 13.1 points and 31.7 minutes during A-10 play.

Post Presence

Graduate student forward Josiah Harris is averaging 9.8 points and 5.5 rebounds during A-10 play. Harris is fifth in the A-10 with 2.3 offensive rebounds per game and seventh in the league with three double-doubles.

Kastrat To Coach For Kosovo in FIBA U18 Tournament

La Salle men's basketball assistant coach and general manager Safet Kastrat will be an assistant coach on Kosovo's FIBA U18 team this summer. Kosovo will compete in Division C from July 21-26, 2026, at the U18 EuroBasket Tournament in Shkodra, Albania. The tournament serves as a qualifying event for the FIBA U17 and U19 Basketball World Cup.

Injury Bug

La Salle has had 113 games missed by 10 players this season, which is believed to be the third most in the nation, trailing Boston U and Binghamton.

Starting Shuffle

Through 25 games, the Blue and Gold have rolled out 19 different starting lineups. 13 different players have started in a game this season. Only two players (Dockery and Johnson) have started in all 13 conference games. Walker is the only other player to appear in all 13 league games this season.

The Series

Rhode Island leads the all-time series, 34-13. In the last meeting, La Salle earned its first road victory in the series since 2017.

Last Meeting vs. Rhode Island

The Explorers earned their lone road win of the season, taking down the Rams 79-72 in Kingston back on Jan. 7. Four Explorers reached double figures in the game as La Salle shot a season-best 61% from the field.

Rob Dockery led the way for the Blue and Gold with 22 points and seven rebounds. Dockery made 11-of-14 attempts from the charity stripe in the victory.

Truth Harris poured in a career-high 19 points, shooting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Jerome Brewer Jr. added 14 points and six rebounds while Josiah Harris finished with 10 points. 

Scouting The Rams

Rhode Island enters the game after upsetting No. 18 Saint Louis 81-76 on Tuesday. Jonah Hinton led the way with 29 points and tied the Rams program record with nine made three-pointers. Myles Corey added 15 points, making all 11 of his free-throw attempts in the win.

Hinton scored 18 in the last meeting against La Salle, while Corey tallied 12.

Four Rams are averaging 10 or more points per game, led by Tyler Cochran's 15 per contest. Hinton is averaging 14.1points on the season, while Jahmere Tripp and the aforementioned Corey average 12.5 and 10.1 points, respectively.

Next Up

The Explorers will return to John E. Glaser Arena to take on George Washington on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Earlier this season, the Revolutionaries earned a 77-55 victory in Washington, D.C. (Jan. 3).
