Pawleys Island, SC -Â The La Salle women's golf team opens its spring campaign this weekend at the Battle at the Beach, hosted by Stonehill College, Feb. 21-22 at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The event marks the Explorers' return to competition following the winter break and serves as the first of four regular season tournaments leading into the Atlantic 10 Championship in April.
The field currently features Charleston Southern, Indiana State, Queens, Fairfield, New Haven, Purdue-Fort Wayne, Siena, UMES, LIU, Iona, and host Stonehill.
La Salle closed the fall season with a 15th-place finish at the Lehigh Invitational and added a runner-up showing in a tri-match with Saint Joseph's and Wagner on Sept. 20, competing in five tournaments overall to build experience and depth. Seniors Nina Okenkova and Hannah Gammons headline the lineup, with fellow senior Sydnie Leavery returning from injury alongside underclassmen Samantha Song and Jewel Schaefer rounding out the lineup in the Explorers' first tournament
