PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team (8-19, 4-10 A-10) hosts George Washington (15-12, 6-8 A-10) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at John E. Glaser Arena presented by Liss & Marion.
Explorers Prevail 59-46 Against Rhode Island
La Salle completed the regular season sweep against Rhode Island last Saturday for the first time in program history with a dominant defensive effort. The Explorers pulled down 50 rebounds, their most against a Division I opponent this season. La Salle's defense held Rhode Island to just 29.1% shooting from the floor (16-for-55) and 11.1% from 3-point range (2-for-18).
What's Up, Dock?
During A-10 play, redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery is averaging a team-high 13.4 points, a team-high 7.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and a team-high 1.5 steals per game while shooting a team-best 49.6% from the field.
Against the Rams, Dockery led the way with his second double-double of the season with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Dockery was efficient at the charity stripe, knocking down a career-high 13 free throws on 16 attempts.
Walker Continues To Impress
Freshman guard Ashton Walker recorded his first career double-double in the victory against Rhode Island. Walker matched his career-high in points for the third time this season, finishing with 18 while recording a career-high 10 rebounds and a career-high four 3-pointers on just five attempts.
Walker leads all A-10 freshmen in assists (84), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9), and assists per game (3.1). He is also averaging 13.7 points and five rebounds over his last three games.
Walker was named Big 5 Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Floor General
In league play, sophomore guard Jaden Johnson is second in the A-10 with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.1. He also ranks sixth with 58 assists and 4.1 assists per game in A-10 play. Johnson is also averaging five assists per game over his last five contests.
Kastrat To Coach For Kosovo in FIBA U18 Tournament
La Salle men's basketball assistant coach and general manager Safet Kastrat
will be an assistant coach on Kosovo's FIBA U18 team this summer. Kosovo will compete in Division C from July 21-26, 2026, at the U18 EuroBasket Tournament in Shkodra, Albania. The tournament serves as a qualifying event for the FIBA U17 and U19 Basketball World Cup.
Injury Bug
La Salle has had 119 games missed by 10 players this season, which is believed to be the third most in the nation, trailing Boston U and Binghamton.
Starting Shuffle
Through 27 games, the Blue and Gold have rolled out 20 different starting lineups. 13 different players have started in a game this season. Only two players (Dockery and Johnson) have started in all 14 conference games.
Walker is the only other player to appear in all 14 league games this season.
The Series
This is the 52nd all-time meeting between the programs. George Washington leads the all-time series 28-23.
Last Meeting vs. George Washington
The Explorers fell 77-55 to George Washington on Jan. 3. La Salle had a 46-45 lead with 13 minutes left in the game, but the Revolutionaries finished the contest on a 32-9 run to secure the victory.
For La Salle, Dockery delivered in his hometown, scoring a career-high 23 points while hauling in five rebounds. He also shot 8-for-11 from the field.
Rafael Castro led the way for George Washington with a game-high 26 points, shooting 11-of-15 from the field while leading all players with 14 rebounds.
Scouting The Revolutionaries
George Washington leads all A-10 teams with 31 3-point attempts per game. The Revolutionaries rank second in the A-10 with 12.7 offensive rebounds per game and second in the league in effective field goal percentage (.552).
Castro is averaging 15 points and nine rebounds per game, ranking in the league's top five in both categories. He also leads the league with 6.3 defensive rebounds per game.
Garrett Johnson (12.9), Trey Autry (10.4), Tre Dinkins (9.8), and Christian Jones (9.8) round out a balanced scoring attack for the Revolutionaries.
Next Up
La Salle will travel to Davidson on Sunday, March 1, to take on the Wildcats at noon. The Explorers outlasted Davidson for a 79-76 victory at John E. Glaser Arena last season.
