Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle women's basketball team capped off its regular season in style, securing a dominant 70-57 victory over Loyola Chicago on Senior Day. The Explorers never trailed, celebrating their seniors with a win to improve their record to 17-12 on the season, tying their most wins in the Mountain MacGillivray era.
La Salle established control from the opening tip, building a 14-11 lead after the first quarter and extending its advantage to 31-25 by halftime. The second half saw the Explorers continue to execute efficiently, pulling away in the fourth quarter to lead by as many as 13 points and sealing the comfortable victory at home.
Redshirt junior Ashleigh Connor led the way with a dominant 26-point performance, shooting an efficient 7-for-8 from the field to top all scorers. Junior Aryss Macktoon added a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, plus four steals to set the program's single-season steals record. Redshirt freshman Kiara Williams chipped in 11 points and dished out a team-best four assists.
As a team, La Salle was highly efficient, shooting 50 percent from the floor compared to just 35 percent for the Ramblers. The Explorers also capitalized on their opportunities at the free-throw line, attempting 34 shots from the stripe while committing only nine turnovers. The rebounding battle was even, with both teams grabbing 36 boards.
