PHILADELPHIA, PA – La Salle women's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Mary Babbage earned Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon after anchoring the Explorers' defensive unit to a 17-3 victory against Delaware State last Friday.

Against Delaware State, Babbage made six saves and finished with a .667 save percentage while playing the full 60 minutes. She also caused three turnovers and scooped up a team-high six ground balls.

As of Feb. 9, Babbage leads the nation in goals against average and is second in save percentage among 77 eligible goalkeepers.

"Mary winning the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week is a direct result of the hard work she put in all fall to better herself," head coach Kirkland Lewis said. "She is a dedicated defensive leader who shows up for any offensive individuals to get extra shots. She deserves it."

Babbage becomes the first La Salle player to earn the award since Molly Loughlin captured the honor during the 2021 season.
