PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference matchup against Kennesaw State, falling 15-9 on Wednesday evening at McCarthy Stadium. The result moves the Explorers to 3-6 on the season.
Senior midfielder Jade Shearer led the Explorers offensively, recording a team-high three goals on three shots while collecting two ground balls and causing a turnover.
Senior attacker Molly Maloney also notched a hat trick, finishing with three goals on four shots.
Junior midfielder Mia Riccitelli added two goals, scoring on both of her shot attempts and grabbing a ground ball.Â
Kennesaw State jumped out to a fast start, capitalizing on early possession to build a 4-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Owls dominated the first quarter, holding a 7-2 advantage and controlling the draw circle to dictate the pace. La Salle's offense was stymied in the second quarter, going scoreless as Kennesaw State extended its lead to 8-2 at halftime.Â
Despite the deficit, La Salle found its rhythm in the fourth quarter, outscoring Kennesaw State 6-2 in a spirited rally. The Explorers strung together four straight goals over the final eight minutes, cutting into the lead.
La Salle travels to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, March 14, to take on George Washington University at 1 p.m.
