This Week In La Salle Athletics: Women's Basketball Opens WNIT, A10 Baseball Play Returns To 20th And Olney

Here is a look of the action to come this week for La Salle Athletics, brought to you by Hershey's Ice Cream.   
 
Baseball 
  • La Salle will host its first Atlantic 10 Conference series since 2021 this weekend, hosting Davidson for a three-game set Friday-Sunday.   
  • The Explorers travel to Lafayette on Wednesday to complete a home-and-home with the Leopards, who they defeated in the home portion last week, 16-11. 
  • Carter Groen posted a monster week at the plate for La Salle, driving in 14 RBI with three home runs and four extra base hits. The redshirt-sophomore tied the school record for RBI in a single game with eight on Wednesday against Lafayette, highlighted by a second inning grand slam, and then homered on Saturday and Sunday at VCU. His homer Saturday tied the game in the ninth inning.

Women's Basketball 
  • After qualifying for a postseason tournament for the first time since the 1991-92 season, the Explorers have accepted a bid into the WNIT tournament. Seeding and the full bracket will be released later today. 
  • The team defeated Saint Louis in the second round of the 2026 Betterment Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship, before falling to Richmond in the semi-finals.

Women's Lacrosse 
  • La Salle is in the thick of Atlantic 10 play with a pair of conference games this week. 
  • The Explorers host Rhode Island on Wednesday at 1:00 pm and then travel to VCU Saturday at 12 noon.

Men's Golf 
  • The La Salle men's golf team will kick off their spring season at the Carpetbagger Classic beginning on Saturday at Worthington Manor Golf Course in Urbana, MD. 
  • In their final tournament of the fall, the team placed third out of six teams at the Big 5 Championship. Sophomore Payton Hawke led the way with his +2, 72 at The 1912 Club.

Women's Water Polo 
  • La Salle travels to Poughkeepsie, New York, for a pair of MAAC games this weekend.  
  • The Explorers will play Mount St. Mary's on Saturday at 1:00 pm and then face LIU Sunday, also at 1 pm.

Men's Rowing 
  • On Saturday, the Explorers will debut their newest Empacher racing shell as the team will scrimmage Navy on the Christina River in Delaware. 
  • The previous weekend, the team gathered to honor former head coach Jim Kiernan '71, whose legacy will now be carried forward by the boat bearing his name.
