Track And Field Teams Race In Three Meets Over Weekend

Durham, NC, Piscataway, NJ, and Lewisburg, PA - The La Salle track and field teams raced in three meets Friday and Saturday evenings, competing in the Duke Invitational, Rutgers Relays, and Bison Outdoor Classic.

At the Duke Invitational, all three Explorers broke existing program records. Junior Gwenno Goode was ninth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:19.01. In the men's event, freshman Sean Cronin was third with a time of 3:40.26, while senior Chanel Muir was tenth, finishing in 3:41.22. Over at the Rutgers Relays, sophomore Jorden Gore set a new program record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.81 to get third, and sophomore Adaugo Ilonze got sixth (time of 12.05). Ilonze was also sixth in the 200-meter dash (25.18), and her and Gore led the 4x100-meter relay led the team to victory alongside freshman Carleen Lionel and sophomore Havanna Gordon (47.34).

On the men's side at Rutgers, freshman Caleb Johnson finished in 55.63 in the 400-meter hurdles to place eighth. Sophomore Evan Dias was 17th in the 800-meter run (1:58.28), while freshman Kenji Samuel recorded a jump of 6.23 meters in the long jump to get 17th. In the Bison Outdoor Classic, sophomore Cara Coppolino was 19th in the 1500-meter unseeded run (4:45.37), while freshman Beca Bown (4:28.93) and sophomore Gillian Lovett (4:33.61) placed 15th and 30th in the invite run, respectively. Senior Ella Verello finished in 17:57.26 in the 5k to place 13th. In the men's 1500-meter invite run, sophomore Callum Murray placed 12th (3:46.49) and freshman Jacob Gardner went 14th (3:47.44). 

La Salle track & field continues action next weekend, racing in the Virginia Challenge and Paul Donahue Invite.
