Haverford Township, PA - On Monday and Tuesday, incoming fifth-year transfer Logan Paczewski made history at the 126th United States Amateur Championship at Philadelphia Country Club and Merion Golf Club, becoming the third Explorer to compete in the prestigious event and just the second to do so while attending La Salle. Paczewski carded matching rounds of 73 to finish tied for 142nd in the 312-player field.
Paczewski made two birdies in each round, including a birdie on the 397-yard seventh hole at Philadelphia Country Club, where his three-man group combined to play the hole at 4-under. Paczewski finished the tournament at 6-over, recording the best finish by an Explorer in program history. Mike Johnson ('14) competed in the 2012 U.S. Amateur, carding rounds of 82 and 78, while David Kim ('21) competed in the 2022 championship, finishing with rounds of 77 and 85.
Previously at George Mason and Rutgers, Paczewski placed fourth at the 2024 WVU Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational while at George Mason and recorded two additional top-35 finishes during his time at Rutgers.
