Charlottesville, VA – The La Salle women's soccer team dropped a road matchup at No. 13 Virginia 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at Klöckner Stadium.
With the defeat, the Explorers moved to 1-1 on the season, while the Cavaliers improved to 3-0.
Junior goalkeeper Samantha Widnick matched her career-high with seven saves in the contest.
Justyce Hollenbach and Halah Lebsack each recorded two shot attempts for the Explorers.
Virginia set the tone early, scoring three goals in the opening 10 minutes. Tatum Calvin capitalized on a feed from Ella Carter in the sixth minute, followed by a pair of goals in the 10th minute from Giovana Canali and Addison Halpern.
The Cavaliers added another score in the 19th minute as Halpern scored her second goal of the game. Jordyn Hardeman followed suit in the 24th minute to put Virginia ahead 5-0.
Virginia would also net a pair of second-half goals in the 46th and 71st minutes.
La Salle will travel to Bucknell (2-1) on Sunday, Aug. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.
