Bethlehem, PA – The La Salle men's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 4-1 victory over Lehigh on Friday night.
After falling behind early, the Explorers scored four unanswered goals to earn the win.
La Salle scored two goals in three minutes late in the first half, as senior
Kyrese Lynch-Bailey and junior
Alberto "Toto" Esquivel Meza went back-to-back to give the Blue and Gold a 2-1 halftime lead.
In the second half, junior
Gabe Faust extended the lead on the counterattack in his first game as an Explorer, before senior
Alexandru Zama put the exclamation mark on the game with a powerful shot into the top corner to make it 4-1.
Graduate student
Maximilian Retzer earned the victory in goal after making five saves, as Lehigh held a 15-11 edge in shots.
La Salle will play its first home game of the season on Monday, as the Explorers are set to host FDU at McCarthy Stadium at 6 pm.
