Philadelphia, PA – Junior Gabe Faust scored his sixth goal of the season, but it was not enough to mount a comeback for the Explorers, falling to Rider 3-2 Saturday night.
The game started with a goal from Rider in the fourth minute but was answered back in the 11th minute by Faust. An own goal by La Salle followed in the 43rd minute, but senior midfielder Keiji Sugiura evened it with 30 seconds left in the half. His second goal of the season was assisted by seniors Alexandru Zama and Grayson Parks.
Rider scored the lone goal in the second half, coming in the 58th minute.
The Explorers outshot Rider 20-9 and had more shots on goal with 8-6. Faust supported his goal with six total shots, four of them coming on goal. Sophomore Julius de Vries, juniors Alberto "Toto" Esquivel Meza and Emmanuel Tamen, and Zama and Sugiura, each had 2 shots in the match.
Graduate student goalkeeper Maximilian Retzer made four saves in the contest.
Rider improves to 4-1-1 on the season while the Explorers drop to 4-2.
