PHILADELPHIA –La Salle freshman
Lisa Shaffer has been named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced today. Shaffer recorded her third shutout of the season on Friday in a 3-0 victory over Saint Louis that clinched a berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the Explorers.
The award is the seventh A-10 Rookie of the Week honor in field hockey by the Explorers and the fourth straight.
Maddy Tettelbach won two early in September while
Lisa Shaffer has won four.
Colleen Kempf was honored last Monday.
Shaffer continues to lead the nation in save percentage (.816) and is also 12
th in saves per game (7.89) and 21
st in goals against average (1.76).
The four rookie of the week honors from the conference set a new school record and is one short of the all-time Atlantic 10 record of five rookie of the week honors set by Saskia Fuchs of UMass in 1996.
The fourth-seeded Explorers (8-10, 3-3 A-10) will play #1 seed Richmond on Friday at 11 AM in the A-10 Semifinals at Ellen Ryan Field on the campus of Saint Joseph's University.
