Washington, DC - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its 2025 Field Hockey End of Season Awards on Wednesday, with a pair of German standouts representing La Salle among the league's best. Junior
Matilda Diedrichsen earned spots on both the All-Conference Second Team and the All-Academic Team, while freshman
Janne Zillessen was recognized on the All-Rookie Team.
Diedrichsen delivered a breakout junior season leading the Explorers with 31 shots on goal, the fifth-highest total in the conference. She started 14 of 18 games while appearing in all of them. The Hamburg native shined in key moments, including a crucial defensive save in the Explorers' overtime thriller against eventual regular season champion Richmond.
Zillessen, meanwhile, made an immediate impact on La Salle's back line, putting together one of the most remarkable defensive seasons in recent program history. The freshman from Berlin recorded seven defensive saves in just 13 games, the most per game of any player in the nation. Her total marked the highest single-season figure by a freshman since 2021, the most by any Atlantic 10 player since 2019, and the most by an Explorer since 2018.
