Andrea DeSabato Joins Lacrosse Coaching Staff As A Volunteer Assistant

PHILADELPHIA – Head lacrosse coach Candace Taglianetti is pleased to announce the addition of Andrea DeSabato to the lacrosse program as a volunteer assistant coach.

DeSabato will assist with practice and gamedays, working closely with the goalkeepers.

“I appreciate the opportunity to work with the La Salle lacrosse team this season coaching a sport I love,” DeSabato said.  “The division one level is one that I know well, both as a player and coach.  I am excited to be able to teach and coach, but also to learn from this experience.  I look forward to success with the Explorers.”

DeSabato most recently served as a volunteer assistant coach at Villanova during the 2009-2010 season.  While on the Wildcats' staff, she assisted with practices and team conditioning, oversaw gameday operations and coordinated recruiting data.

DeSabato is no stranger to the Atlantic 10, having played collegiately at Temple.  As a junior, the Owls won the Atlantic 10 Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.  She was named SAAC Student-Athlete of the Month in 2008.  DeSabato was a dean's list student who graduated with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism.

"We are very excited to have Andrea join our staff," Taglianetti said.  "As a successful former student athlete in the A-10  conference she will be able to relate to our players and draw for her experiences at Temple, as well contributing her knowledge gained from her days as an assistant at Villanova."

The Wynnewood, Pa. native currently works as a producer for Navteq/NBC 10 Traffic Pulse.

She attended Friends' Central High School, where she was a four-year varsity lacrosse player and team captain her senior year.  She was named the team MVP in 2005, when she helped the team to an undefeated season and the league championship.  That same year, DeSabato was named All-Main Line and First Team All-League.
