Gale and Koci Named To All-Conference Teams; Gale Earns Most Improved Player Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Senior Ashley Gale and freshman Jess Koci have been named to All-Atlantic 10 Teams, as announced by the conference today.

Gale earned distinction on the A-10 Second Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Teams.  She also earned Most Improved Player of The Year.  Koci was named to the All-Rookie Team.

In conference-only games, Gale led the league in scoring with 20.7 points per game.  Earlier this season she became the 23rd women's basketball player to reach the 1,000 point mark, doing so on national television against Fordham.

Gale also finished the regular-season as the league-leader in three pointers per game (3.2) and steals per game (3.1).  The senior earned A-10 Co-Player of the Week on February 21st after averaging 23 points on the week and going a flawless 16-for16 from the free throw line.

Koci led the Explorers in rebounds this year and is currently fifth in the A-10 in rebounds per game with 7.7 and second in the league in offensive rebounds at 3.7 per game.  Koci also averages 7.4 points per game

Xavier's Amber Harris was named the A-10's Player of the Year, while Temple's Tony Cardoza was tabbed Coach of the Year.
