Ruland Nets Four Goals As La Salle Falls To GW, 15-7

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior Taylor Ruland added four goals in the Explorers’ 15-7 loss to George Washington on Sunday afternoon in Washington D.C.

Sophomore Lauren McDermott, freshman Maggie O’Ferrall and sophomore Melanie Sarcinello also scored goals for La Salle.

Junior Sara Ciaverelli picked up five ground balls in the contest.

For the Colonials, Nicole Lacey had four goals on five shots.

George Washington got on the board early and scored five goals before Ruland answered for La Salle with two straight scores to make the tally 5-2 in favor of the Colonials.

The Explorers trailed 8-4 at the break after O’Ferrall added the final score of the half with two minutes remaining. Ruland’s assist on the goal would help her tally five points on the day.

The teams traded a pair of goals to open play after the break, but then the Colonials used another five goal scoring streak to go up 14-5 and La Salle couldn’t recover.

The Explorers will be on the road next weekend as they travel to play St. Bonaventure and Duquesne.
