PHILADELPHIA - The Explorers dropped their third Atlantic 10 contest of the season to Richmond, 15-4, on a rainy afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
Both offenses started off slowly until McGurkin put La Salle on the board first off a feed from Roebuck seven and a half minutes into the contest. McDermott followed with a goal of her own at the 13:12 mark.
The Spiders would go on to score three straight goals in four minutes to make the score 3-2 in their favor.
McDermott converted on a free position attempt with 7:10 to play in the first to tie up the score at three-all.
However, Anne Ryan scored two straight for Richmond to give the Spiders a 5-3 halftime lead.
Richmond added a quick goal at the start of the second half and would add four more before La Salle answered with a goal by Sarcinello with 18:08 remaining in the contest.
That would be the Explorers’ only lone goal of the second half, as Richmond added five more before the game was over.
Gabi Wiegand tallied four goals and Ryan and Caitlin Fifield finished with three goals for the Spiders. Julianne Nicola contributed 4 assists.
The Spiders (6-7, 1-2 A-10) controlled 13 draws to the Explorers’ eight.
La Salle (4-8, 0-3) will travel to Washington, D.C. to play George Washington on Sunday. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
