Men's Soccer Welcomes Six Incoming Players For 2011

June 3, 2011

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men’s soccer program will welcome six new players to the 2011-12 team, announced by Head Coach Pat Farrell. Five players hail from the Philadelphia metro area, while one joins the Explorers from the state of Maryland.

"These guys have achieved good things," Farrell said. "If they position themselves through the summer by coming in ready to compete, they’re going to have a chance to play."

Kameron Teel (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester Catholic/Immaculata) joins the Explorers after playing two seasons at Immaculata University. Teel was a two-time All-Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). His 18 goals in two seasons ranks him second all-time at the school in career goals scored and he is Immaculata’s all-time points per game leader (1.17 ppg). As a freshman in 2009, he led the Mighty Macs to their first-ever CSAC championship game. Teel completed his high school career at Gloucester Catholic in South Jersey, where he is the all-time leader in goals scored. He was a two-time all-state selection and three-time all-South Jersey pick. He also earned all-parochial honors and all-conference honors three times. Teel played with the Super Y USL Olympic Development Program (ODP) team.

Tom Baker (Jamison, Pa./Archbishop Wood) comes to La Salle with a long high school resume. The two-time Adidas/NSCAA All-American was also named Player of the Year by four different entities (Philadelphia Inquirer, Bucks County Courier Times, Daily Intelligencer and Southeastern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame). Baker finished with 105 goals and 28 assists in his career, leading the Archbishop Wood squad to District 12 championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010 as well as Philadelphia Catholic League and PIAA State finalists in 2010. Baker earned Catholic League MVP honors twice and was a three-time First Team All-State, three-time All-Southeastern Pennsylvania and three-time First Team All-Catholic honoree. He holds school records for goals in a career (105), goals in a season (42) and consecutive games with a goal (15).

Baker played club ball with the YMS Thunder, leading the squad to the 2011 Jefferson Cup championship and Region 1 Southern Division Championship, as well as a ranking of number two in the nation. In 2010, Baker led the Thunder to the Disney Showcase finals in the top bracket and the EPYSA state title.

Robert Friskey (King of Prussia, Pa./William Penn Charter) provides another scoring threat for the Explorers. Friskey, a First Team All-InterAc pick his senior year, led Penn Charter in scoring both seasons at the school. As a transfer his junior year, he came in and was the leading goal scorer despite playing just 16 of 26 games. Friskey was a four-year varsity starter, earning all-area as a sophomore and all-league as both a freshman and a sophomore at Upper Merion High School.

On the club ball front, Friskey was an FC Delco U18 Academy player. He was the second leading scorer in the U17 US national championships and on the U17 US National League with the Penn Fusion. Prior to that, he played with Spirit United where he was the third leading scorer in the U16 US National League. He also helped Spirit United to the Pennsylvania Region 1 final.

Pat Sullivan (Ellicott City, Md./Marriott Ridge) joins neighbor Jason Plumhoff from the town of Ellicott City, Md., after a successful four-year career at Marriott Ridge High School. Sullivan led Marriott Ridge to back-to-back Maryland 2A state championship titles in 2009 and 2010. He was a two-time First Team All-State pick and earned Second Team All-State honors his sophomore year. Sullivan was also a three-time All-Howard County, two-time All-South and two-time All-Metro honoree, in addition to being named the 2009 Howard County Player of the Year.

Sullivan played for the Maryland Olympic Development Program for four years and was a player on the Region 1 pool team.

George Breslin (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) joins former William Tennent teammates Jeff Pio and Jim Clark. Breslin was a three-year varsity player for Tennent, earning Second Team All-Suburban One honors his senior season. The two-year starter earned the team’s Player of the Year honor as a senior as well. Breslin also ran four years of varsity track.

Mike Trodden (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) comes to La Salle with high school teammate Tom Baker. Trodden was a three-year varsity player at Archbishop Wood, helping his squad to the Philadelphia Catholic League final and the PIAA state final his senior year. Trodden was named All-Catholic twice, and is a recipient of the Christian Brothers Scholarship for Academic Achievement.
