PHILADELPHIA - Redshirt junior guard
Brittany Wilson was named both the Atlantic 10 and Big 5 Player of the Week, announced by both the league office and Big 5 administration on Monday afternoon.
Wilson was also named the La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week.
The Pawtucket, R.I., native averaged 29.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in two games last week, helping the Explorers go 2-0 on the week and extend a current win streak to a league-best six games. Behind her offense, La Salle improved to 3-0 in the Atlantic 10, the first time since the 1996-97 season that the Explorers opened league play with three straight wins.
Wilson poured in a career-high 31 points against Fordham on Wednesday while dishing out a career-best seven assists in a 68-62 win. She scored 16 straight Explorer points to bring the squad back from an 11-point second half deficit for the win. She followed up with a 28-point performance in a 63-51 win over Xavier on Saturday.
Wilson shot a blistering 61 percent (25-for-41) from the floor, including going 7-for-12 (58 percent) from three-point range.
Wilson, along with the rest of the Explorers, return to action at Charlotte on Wednesday (1/18) in a noon tipoff at Halton Arena.
