PHILADELPHIA – La Salle field hockey's conference schedule heats up this weekend, as it hosts #19 Massachusetts and VCU in a double dip of Atlantic 10 action.
Scouting the Explorers
La Salle has it its stride recently, winning four of its last five after starting the year 2-6. Last weekend, the Explorers split A-10 matches, falling to Temple and knocking off Saint Joseph's.
Colleen Kempf was responsible for the lone goal in La Salle's win, raising her total to five on the season, good for second on the team.
Olivia Shoemaker recorded the Explorer goal on Friday vs. Temple, giving her six on the year, the highest mark on the team and tenth-highest in the conference.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lisa Shaffer continues her strong play, ranking 14
th in the country with 7.27 saves/game. Her five shutouts sit atop the conference leaderboard as well.

Scouting the Minutewomen
Massachusetts has won three straight, including stunning #1 Syracuse last Thursday, jettisoning itself into the top 25 in the National Coaches Poll. The Minutewomen have played a grueling schedule this season, with 11 of 16 games thus far against nationally ranked squads. Senior D Thando Zono is their top point-getter at 1.40/game and was named A-10 Co-Player of the week for October 15. As a team, Massachusetts ranks second in the conference in shots/game (13.94) and third in goals/game (2.50).

Scouting the Rams
After winning its first eight on the season, VCU has dropped five of seven headed into this weekend. The Rams' efforts are spearheaded by senior F Kelsey Scherrer, who ranks second in the A-10 and tenth nationally with 2.29 points/game. She was a first-team All-CAA selection last season. Junior goalkeeper Megan Botteri ranks third in the A-10 with 84 saves. As a team, the Rams rank second in the conference in scoring margin (0.49) and goals allowed (1.93/game).
