The Match-Up
The Explorers and Huskies met last season in Boston, with the Explorers posting a 75-60 win in the midst of their six-game winning streak. The Explorers staked themselves to a 40-23 halftime lead and held on.
Brittany Wilson scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds, dished out six assists and recorded two steals against her former school. Current senior Christine Huber led the Huskies with 13 points.
La Salle owns a 4-0 all-time record in the series, dating back to 1980.
Scouting the Explorers
La Salle is coming off of a tough 56-50 loss to Loyola Chicago in the season opener this past Sunday. The Explorers led 27-22 at the half, but the Ramblers outshot the Explorers 34-23 in the second frame to take the decision.
Wilson led all scorers with 22 points and tied for team-high rebounds with eight. She added a game-best four blocks and recorded three steals.
Jordan Mosley added 13 points off the bench, and
Arielle Ward pulled down eight boards in her collegiate debut.
Scouting the Huskies
The Huskies are coming off of a 50-47 loss in their season opener at Eastern Michigan. They led by as many as 17 in the second half before yielding a 24-4 run to EMU in the final 12 minutes. Deanna Kerkhof recorded her first career double-double with a team-best 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Northeastern was picked to finish sixth in the CAA this season and returned three of its top four scorers from 2011-12. The Huskies are led by Kerkhof, a CAA Preseason First Team pick, who averaged a team-best 14.4 points per game last year. Jewel Tunstull, who scored 13.0 points per game and pulled down a team-best 6.9 boards per game, also returns. Tunstull is a CAA Preseason Honorable Mention pick after leading the conference with a 56.8 percent field goal percentage last season.
