Box Score
PHILADELPHIA -
Brittany Wilson hit the 20-point mark for the second time in as many games, but the La Salle women's basketball squad could not solve Northeastern in a 76-45 loss at Tom Gola Arena on Thursday night.
Wilson started the game cold but lit up for 14 of those 20 points in the second half, going 5-for-9 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line after the break.
Deanna Kerkhof led the Huskies with a game-best 22 points, going 8-for-13 and 4-for-7 from three. Kashaia Cannon added 16 points, 15 of those from three. Jewel Tunstull added 11 points.
The Huskies jumped out to a 40-20 halftime lead, returning the favor for the Explorers' 40-23 first half score in Boston last season. They shot 46.7 percent in the half, and drained eight of their 15 triple attempts. Cold shooting hampered the Explorers throughout, as they were limited to 23.7 percent for the game and just 2-of-22 from beyond the arc.
Jordan Mosley opened scoring with one of those treys 1:08 into the game before the visitors went on a 14-4 run to put the score at 14-7 with 13:58 left in the first half.
Shanel Harrison hit a layup in the paint to bring the Explorers within five, which was the closest the team would get. A Kerkhof layup at 11:16 gave the Huskies a double-digit lead that they would never relinquish.
Northeastern shot 46.4 percent for the game and 50 percent (13-for-26) from three.
The Explorers won the turnover battle, forcing the Huskies into 20 miscues while committing 15.
The Explorers face another CAA opponent on Saturday in a Philly battle with Drexel at 1 p.m.
