PHILADELPHIA – Dan Day,
Vince Perozze, and
Alfredo Santana have been named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Academic All-Conference team, the conference office announced today. The Explorers accounted for three of the six spots on the list, and were the only school to have more than one student-athlete represented.
Day finished 13
th at this year's A-10 cross country championships, running a 26:08.3 in the 8K race, good for an all-conference nod. The Lansdale Catholic product finished 30
th last year at the championships and finished in the top-30 in three of La Salle's races this fall. The senior has amassed a 3.67 cumulative GPA as a political science major.
Perozze placed 19
th (26:19.9) at the conference championships this fall, aiding La Salle's third place finish at the event. The junior finished 20
th in the race a year ago, playing a key role in the Explorer's team victory in 2011. The Collegeville, Pa. native finished in the top-10 in two races this season and has compiled a 3.74 GPA as an accounting major.
Santana was the runner-up finisher at the A-10 Championships this year, running a 25:21.9 and capping a spectacular personal senior campaign. The Philadelphia native finished in the top five in four races this fall, including first-place finishes in the La Salle-Penn dual meet and the George Mason Invitational. Santana was the A-10 Cross Country Performer of the Year in 2011 after winning the conference championship meet. The psychology major has accumulated a 3.14 cumulative GPA and was named an academic all-conference selection last year as well.
