UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Alfredo Santana was the top La Salle finisher at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Championships on Friday, placing 24th in the 170-runner field, leading the Explorers to an 11th place finish (25 teams).

Santana clocked a 31:04 in the 10K race and was followed by back to back finishes by Vince Perozze (31:55, 57th) and Dan Day (31:58, 58th). With his top-25 finish, Santana was named an all-region performer for the second consecutive season.

"The men had a very tough race today," head coach Dan Ireland said. "We were hoping to bounce back from our sub par race at A-10's but it did not happen.

"We have one more race next weekend so hopefully we can end on a positive note."

Georgetown took home the team title, registering 56 total team points on the day. Villanova (57 team points) and Princeton (61 team points) finished second and third, respectively.

The Explorers finish up their season on November 17 at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Bronx, N.Y.
