Lacrosse Opens Three-Game Homestand By Facing San Diego State On Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The Explorers will begin the first of three straight home games when they welcome San Diego State to McCarthy Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Sunday.

La Salle recently improved to 6-2 on the season after defeating Villanova, 13-9, on Wednesday evening.

Junior Melanie Sarcinello and freshman Caitlyn Brostrand each added four goals in the win.  Brostrand is now tied with junior Lauren McDermott for a team-leading 16 goals on the season.

Senior goalie Megan Corliss boasts the Atlantic 10's top save percentage of .526 and has a goals against average of 9.32.

Today's game is also the first lacrosse contest of the season that will be streamed in high-definition on GoExplorers.tv.  In case of inclement weather, the stream will be canceled.

Scouting the Aztecs

San Diego State (3-5, 1-3 MPSF) is in its first season of varsity competition after the sport was added in 2010.

The Aztecs snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating Fresno State, 15-8, on Tuesday.

Meris Walsh added five goals in that contest to bring her scoring total to 28 goals on the season.

In goal, Sammy Slattery has a 14.81 GAA. In 451-plus minutes in net.

The Aztecs will also play Lafayette, whom the Explorers defeated 12-11 earlier this month, and St. Francis (PA) on their East Coast swing.
